Testimonials
I came to Typhanie as a vocalist looking to transfer from theatre singing into contemporary singing. I loved Typhanie’s holistic approach of coaching. Typhanie helped me discover my voice and my style. The obvious being vocal technique catered to my specific voice. She helped me learn how to connect the emotions I felt in my life and my experiences, to the emotional connection of any song and its specific message. I owe so much of my vocal and personal growth to the time I spent working with Typhanie. She truly helped me with the whole package: Vocal Technique, Personal Development, Style Development, and Songwriting.

Typhanie’s coaching style is something that not many can provide: she pays very close attention to detail, takes the time to understand your personal style and goals, and then proceeds to teach her students through her enormous amount of experience and push them toward success with lots of care. At the beginning of working with Typhanie, I needed help with strengthening my mixed register and technique. I also had some issues with different consonance and vowels, because English is not my first language. My technique improved greatly, and quickly. She assisted me in understanding how to connect to my audience and engage them with my musical ability, my movements, my words, and my essence. She is not only a vocal coach or a musical mentor, she is someone that becomes a grounding force that has a clear perspective on which direction one should take in order for them to succeed in whatever they are looking to do.

My name is Mark Belden. I am a retired actor, director and writer. I spent most of my career at The Second City in Chicago, where I still teach improvisation and writing.
I was expressing myself with a piece of music curated for me by an expert, and I began to hear and appreciate jazz in a completely new a much more interesting and fulfilling way.
My confidence increased exponentially over the time I studied with Typhanie. Through our lessons I found an entirely new and stimulating discipline in which to channel my creativity. Typhanie Monique represents the very epitome of professionalism. Her attitude was always focused and workmanlike yet filled with the joy of music, song, and yes, jazz.

Typhanie helped me lean into my image, always pushing me when I thought I had the craziest idea that was unattainable. I loved her ability to be critical and specific, while also prioritizing mental and physical health. She pushed me when I needed it, she sent me home if I wasn't feeling well, and really made me feel seen and heard as a person, which is what I liked the most about her teaching style.

Anyone is lucky to work with Typhanie. Her confidence in herself is contagious, it truly bleeds into her students. Singing is already a vulnerable state to be in and she makes sure that it's a safe space. I use all kinds of Typhanie’s tips and tricks. She would always make sure that I understood what I was learning and why we were learning it. Typhanie not only helped me learn about my voice and how to train it, but she made sure I understood the connection between your voice, your body, your mind, and your soul.
